I wandered along the Lakeside today <br />Watching the proud swans in flow. <br />In my head, lived a thousand memories <br />Of 'you and I' ~ long long ago. <br /> <br />Green algae still covered the water <br />'Though the air was quite fresh and sweet <br />Bluebells had died along with the daisies <br />And gone was our old rustic seat. <br /> <br />Nostalgia crept into my lonely heart <br />A feeling I cannot explain ~ They say <br />One can never go back in time <br />Because memories give way to the rain. <br /> <br />But I just had to admire the scene once more <br />That place where our youth was spent. <br />It all seemed so unreal to me <br />Our romance, which was heaven sent.<br /><br />Joyce Hemsley<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/lakeside-in-autumn/
