The forest was dim. <br />Dusk had set in <br />Unobtrusively. <br /> <br />A clearing appeared <br />Dogs' barks sounded weird <br />Unexpectedly. <br /> <br />Caused him to veer instead. <br />Old barns lay ahead <br />Unsurprisingly. <br /> <br />He stopped in his track <br />And whistled dogs back <br />Unsuspectingly. <br /> <br />But to his delight <br />Barn-owl took to flight <br />Unintentionally. <br /> <br />White spectre in dusk <br />Ghost wings shown thrusting <br />Unrestrainedly. <br /> <br />A blood curdling shriek <br />Came strident from beak <br />Undeniably. <br /> <br />Dogs took to their heels <br />But he vowed, with zeal <br />Unpretentiously. <br /> <br />To return soon to mark <br />In daylight, not dark <br />Underhandedly. <br /> <br />Sans dogs, this same plot. <br />Soon nestlings he'd spot <br />Unmistakably.<br /><br />Fay Slimm<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/white-spectre-flying/
