The other day <br />My newborn son <br />Tried to tell me about oblivion. <br /> <br />An experience that was fresh in his mind <br />He having only recently arrived in the world. <br /> <br />He waved his arms <br />And crooned at me <br />Arching his back <br />And stretching his neck <br />Staring at me with an intensity <br />Out of all proportion to his size. <br /> <br />Well he may know about oblivion, <br />But he doesn't know much about language <br />And by the time he finds out about the one <br />He will have forgotten about other. <br /> <br />When the time comes <br />I will just have to go and find out about oblivion for myself. <br />But I love him for the effort he made <br />To tell me.<br /><br />Allan Thorne<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-very-important-message-i-could-not-understand/
