they say, <br />these eminent scientists, <br />the universe is expanding; <br />but what they didn’t know <br />these most knowledgeable scientists <br />so is my home expanding, <br />like the universe <br /> <br /> <br />see, I started with a house <br />in which I could walk within two minutes <br />and when I lay down in bed <br />it was like being in a box; <br />and the trees <br />all round the home <br />they towered over my roof <br /> <br /> <br />but last year when I woke up <br />I noticed a delightful thing: <br />the house had reached the trees <br />and the trees in jealousy <br />were scratching the windows <br /> <br /> <br />three months later <br />my room had taken me <br />to heights like I lived in Trump Tower <br />and the walls had reached <br />the Brisbane River; <br />and the trees all round the Sunshine State <br />when I looked out my window <br />were no more than toothpicks <br /> <br /> <br />and yet soon <br />in a matter of months <br />the Sydney Opera House <br />was but a backpacker’s motel <br />and the Uluru but a red pebble <br /> <br /> <br />and still my house expanded <br />and all the world aspired <br />to its dizzying heights <br />and swarga dimensions <br />and depth; <br />and still my house kept growing <br />and no one could hold it back <br />from its explosive adolescent growth <br /> <br /> <br />and now when I look <br />out my window <br />the clouds <br />are far below <br />and the moon <br />glides past for a peek <br />and begs to come in; <br />and of course I do see you petty mortals <br />like tiny ants there <br />looking green at my house <br />that is expanding as wide and measureless <br />as the expanding universe <br /> <br /> <br />and of course <br />the scientists <br />now have grown wise <br />after the event <br />and there is great rush <br />and hurly-burly <br />amongst the scientific fraternity <br />and maternity <br />to formulate a new theory <br />called the home theory <br />which goes to the truth of cosmology: <br />the universe emulates my house<br /><br />Raj Arumugam<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/my-home-like-the-universe-is-expanding/
