Out from the shadows of your wings <br />I felt the sun unfurl <br />But a different feeling kindled, when <br />I looked upon the world <br /> <br />The western winds, so sweetly sang <br />And breezed across the fields <br />The bluest skies, up overhanged <br />What freedom, they revealed <br /> <br />I turned and gazed into your eyes <br />To find what they'd construe <br />I saw a spree of teardrops cry <br />Right then.. at once.. I knew <br /> <br />The time had come, for me to fly <br />And use my own great wings <br />No longer could I huddle nigh <br />Or to your bosom cling <br /> <br />Hesitatingly, I broke <br />And took off towards the sun <br />Unshielded, from your harbored cloak <br />Memories began to run <br /> <br />In youthful days, I sensed no need <br />To importune with worry <br />Because your love so safely freed <br />My heart to roam and flurry <br /> <br />The lecturings, ring truely now <br />With lessons, deep intoned <br />All of their credence, I so vow <br />And take them as my own <br /> <br />Once more I turned to see your face <br />But there, I found a smile <br />Assuring, in it's warm embrace <br />Holding from mile to mile<br /><br />Bryce Edward Coast<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/from-the-shadows-of-your-wings/
