Eight long years ago I lost my best friend in the whole world. <br />My mom, the bravest, kindest woman I have ever known in my life. <br />You fought so hard against the terrible disese that wracked your body <br />Until God took you home with him for eternal life. <br /> <br />Every day I missed you so much it physically hurt. <br />Not just me, but by us all. <br />My dad, my brother, my husband, <br />But most of all, by my son who was still so very small. <br /> <br />One day as we drove down the lane, <br />A Red bird flew in front of the car. <br />My son looked at me with the sincerity of a child <br />And said the bird was a hello from you from afar. <br /> <br />It seemed so strange at first, <br />That every time it seemed like life was just dragging me down. <br />I would see a Red bird fly whizzing by, <br />And I knew it was from you, telling me to smile and not frown. <br /> <br />It lifts my heart every time I see one. <br />I know you are there watching over me every step of the way. <br />Guess what, my son, mom mom says hi, <br />Cause I saw a Red bird today.<br /><br />Pearl L Johns<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-saw-a-red-bird-today/
