One day I looked into myself and didn't like the look <br />So determined to change I sought for a way by seeking it in a book <br />I read and pondered, researched and thought, a wistful point of view <br />What can I do that others will see and know that I am new? <br /> <br />My journey took me through the streets, searching for the truth <br />But all I found was more of me, the ugly side, uncouth <br />I travelled to the cities then, hoping to find my lot <br />But all I saw was just some more of me that I forgot <br />I headed off to the countryside hoping to find reprieve <br />But all I found was a mindless me who lived a life to grieve <br /> <br />I journeyed to the mountaintop, bewildered and alone <br />There did not seem to be a place that did not chill the bone <br />What could I do, where do I go, the book it was no good <br />It had no answer to uncover, it could not be understood <br /> <br />And then a wind so gentle soft, did blow deep in my soul <br />It filled me up with warmth and love, I finally found my goal <br />It was not in the things I touched, or heard or even saw <br />Instead it was my willingness to stretch beyond the core <br />The voice was clear and filled with love to guide me on my way <br />It gave me life and a brand new start to bring in a new day <br /> <br />The change I sought down deep inside was the ways of all mankind <br />To walk a path not of the same, that keeps one in a bind <br />It was a way that breaks the mould, it doesn't conform or wallow <br />Instead it stands tall and straight, in spirit it does follow <br /> <br />Now I stand in a confident pose, that I am who I should <br />I see the way that my God sees and speak the way He speaks <br />I hear His words so crystal clear and know the way to walk <br />As long as I do cleave to Him the change in me will hold <br />And should I fall or slip or sin I know His love so great <br />For in His mercy and His grace He found me on that day <br /> <br />(2009/03/09) <br />(The last verse does not ryhme intentionally.
