He came over to me to say, 'Hi, '
His gleaming eyes sparkling more than ever.
A smile consumes my face,
And the muscles in my cheeks tighten.
I wish he only pulled at the strings of my heart,
But he rips them now harder than ever.
He tells me he loves me,
But I don't know if he means it.
His brown shaggy hair falls in his eyes,
I wipe it away with my hand.
I can smell his shampoo,
I welcome the scent.
When his arms are around me,
He is my protector, my guardian, my first love.
The world stops cold,
What matters?
Everything matters,
Nothing matters.
His smile makes me melt,
And the light from his brown eyes warms me.
There is sweat in my hands,
I am nervous when I am with him.
But I am scared to leave,
Scared to move on.
I am scared of the nights I have to spend without him,
The days that are cold without his arms to warm me.
I'm still scared to move on,
Now I sit and count the days 'til he's gone.

Tiffany Wolf

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/first-love-51/
