Rain is the earths tears
Pouring down the sky
She mourns for all she is
What she was, what she will become
She wails out in grief
Thunder clashing, lightning flashing
Dampening the very air
Her tears beat down upon us
And we hide for shelter in our homes
Her tears bind together
Clutching each other in an inseparable embrace
Her tears flood our streets
Destroying and killing and drowning
And the earth cries on
She no longer cries in grief
But in powerful fury
Giving birth to an angry tempest
Strong winds lash out
Uprooting trees and toppling buildings
It seems the earth will never stop her crying
But suddenly she does
She dries her eyes and wipes her nose
And sees what she has done
She smiles suddenly
The sun breaking through the clouds
She knows how much has been destroyed
Because her angry tears
But Earth feels no remorse
Her tears she shed
Will bring new life to her
Her tears will quench the thirsty seed
And heal the weakened tree
They will refill the ocean, lakes and rivers
Which all the living need
No, she feels no remorse for what she’s done
For she knows
That happiness would never be
If sadness hadn’t paved the way

Layla Stone

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/her-tears-2/
