I have seen what you have not seen <br />The world as dark as dreaming, <br />I have been where the dead have been, <br />I have heard them screaming. <br /> <br />I have heard the unspoken word <br />And had my heart made stone <br />I wished to fly, high as a bird <br />Yet I’d be soaring alone. <br /> <br />I have stood in a crowd and felt as far <br />As the winter seems in June <br />Withdrawn hand, another star <br />To live my live too soon <br /> <br />I have read the unwritten page <br />And read of one small truth <br />Among the sadness and the rage <br />That enclosed my ravaged youth, <br /> <br />The sad reality of sad fact <br />That I had forgot to smile <br />I stood still as the world still turned <br />Still facing that first mile <br /> <br />And what I hear, that you cannot hear <br />But perhaps you’d want to know <br />That behind kohl ringed eyes and kaleidoscopes <br />And pills and talks and shows <br /> <br />That, stranger, the end is nearer <br />Than you could ever guess <br />I dug my own grave years ago <br />And grew up to detest <br /> <br />The morning sun, the evening glow <br />The paths I chose to make, <br />From the cold day of my birth <br />My life is mine to take.<br /><br />Tallie Pascoe<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/perogative/
