My eyes and heart had been covered over, <br />with a sheet of black and pain. <br />I tried to wash myself clean, <br />But never i thought, would i see again. <br /> <br />Questions to things that didn't have an answer, <br />And confusion with the simplest of things, <br />I felt as if i was crazy, <br />Like i was trying to fly with broken wings. <br /> <br />I lay there in the middle of the street, <br />and cars and people pass right by me. <br />Screaming and yelling at me, <br />Their voices were beastly. <br /> <br />I only wanted to stare at the sky, <br />to swim in it's soothing of nothingness, <br />Forgetting the imperfections that had grown in my life, <br />Casting myself into coldness. <br /> <br />I was lying on a road, <br />the cars would skid around me, <br />why won't they just hit me? <br />So i can leave this frenzy. <br /> <br />Something soft and beautiful touched my arm, <br />And a warm smile followed. <br />A little girl lay by my side, <br />And then swallowed. <br /> <br />'why are you lying here girl? ' She said to me. <br />'your much too pretty to be all alone' <br />She passed me a flower, <br />'there, now your a princess on your thrown! ' <br /> <br />I told her to leave me alone, <br />And it was too dangerous for her here, <br />But she just held my hand, <br />'everybody has times when things seem a little queer' <br /> <br />With that she gave me a kiss on the cheek, <br />And ran off into the swarm of cars, <br />I don't even know if she was really there, <br />but then for once, i saw the stars. <br /> <br />i got up from that road, <br />and smiled to the world, <br />I wasn't going insane, <br />I was just waiting till everything had uncurled.<br /><br />Stella Andrews<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/uncurl-my-thoughts/
