The building was strong and stood so tall <br />The Derby Royal Infirmary built to help us all <br />Built around 1810 its era now is at its end <br />Majestically covering Derby’s skyline <br /> <br />For near on two hundred years I have grown <br />Getting to old for these old bones <br /> I’m moving on to a better place <br />Big modern smart and clean <br />I will be one mean fixing machine <br /> <br />The changes Iv seen throughout my years <br />All for the best I have no fear <br />Doctors and nurses I bless them all <br />And that goes for the staff that ran it all <br /> <br />The old one will not be beet just yet <br />There life in this old dog you bet <br />Iv Nursed people though sickness to health <br />No matter of their wealth <br /> <br />My buildings are still standing tall <br />Proud to have been here to served you all <br />Please do not shed a tear <br />I will always be around to remind you I’m near <br /> <br />I will be a relic of the passed <br />But my memories will always lasts <br />I will use my building to raise some funds <br />To try and help those needy ones <br /> <br />So before I pass into the night <br />The future ahead is bright <br />I will sparkle like that jewel in the crown <br />Cos my new home is city bound <br /> <br />(05 03 2009) <br />Derby<br /><br />Jim O'Donnell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-end-of-an-era-2/
