In DC <br />we play for keeps <br />even when we <br />are watching TV <br />our streets are <br />mean and greedy <br />the kids are always <br />outside low down <br />dirty and mischeivous <br />hungry from not <br />being feed <br />they beg <br />wishing they had <br />bread and water <br />only cupcake and soda <br />mothers and fathers <br />out there playing <br />cat and mice <br />running the streets <br />chasing mighty mouse <br />being high and drink <br />smelling like <br />a stinky skunk <br />being away <br />all day <br />they come <br />in the house <br />ouch <br />kids in doubt <br />no lights <br />no gas <br />how long its <br />going to last <br />kids all <br />grown up now <br />we look <br />and frown <br />two turn out <br />like mom and dad <br />how sad <br />not learning from <br />the past <br />they turn <br />the same corners <br />how sooner <br />they were <br />six feet under <br />by thunder <br />no wonder <br />it's dark <br />in the town <br />that never sleep <br />drugs done <br />took over <br />like mami heat <br />we now most reap <br />in them same streets <br />if we don't turn <br />the streak<br /><br />LaRon Green Sr.<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-town-that-never-sleep/
