Time to release the grasp <br />Of what I held was Icarus <br />Learning to fly <br />Too near the sun <br />Intensely wanting <br />To know a <br />One - two - you <br />And who did I think I was <br />To suggest some hint of <br />Happiness that you and I <br />Could fly and sun not melt <br />Our wings that night <br />That never was to be it seems <br />Lay beneath hidden dreams <br />Hushed away - I cannot say <br />What may or may not be <br />Because though the past is clear <br />And present here <br />The future is a hope - skip <br />Unknown trip that beckons <br />Me to play <br />Ask or not what price I'll pay <br />Today - tomorrow - yesterday <br />Hardly a question of eternity <br />Still a life <br />A measurement: <br />A way to weigh <br />A day an hour a minute a year <br />A century a second <br />A millennium <br />Near and far and <br />Close and open and shut <br />And infinite! <br />Maybe - maybe not <br />You and I <br />In our frame <br />Maybe - maybe not <br />You and I <br />In our time <br />Will we fly.<br /><br />Helen Vann<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/learning-to-fly-8/
