Everyone has now decorated their Christmas tree. <br />The winter weather is now beginning to freeze. <br />Supermarket queues are getting extremely long. <br />On radio, being played, are many Christmas songs. <br /> <br />People are attending their works’ festive party; <br />Filling up on booze, and food, hot and hearty. <br />Children are happy to have broken up from school, <br />Which, by them, is thought to be extremely cool. <br /> <br />People are writing their last minute Christmas cards. <br />Twinkling, coloured lights decorate the front yard. <br />People are embarking on Christmas gift wrapping; <br />Stress is kicking in, and there’s now much flapping. <br /> <br />Last minute deliveries are now arriving by post. <br />Christmas parties are being planned by the hosts. <br />Santa Claus seems to be everywhere that you go: <br />Dressed in his bright red suit, calling ‘Ho! Ho! Ho! ’ <br /> <br />Carol singers, to people passing by, bring much cheer, <br />People are stocking up on bottles of fine wine and beer. <br />The pick of the most popular gifts, has now been sold: <br />What’s left on the shelves, looks a bit battered and old. <br /> <br />At the post office, they’re queuing right back to the door; <br />You’re wishing now, that you’d sent all of your cards before. <br />People are now offering season’s greetings to each other: <br />To family, friends, neighbours, strangers, and their lovers. <br /> <br />In less than a week, Christmas day will finally be here, <br />And dear friends and loved ones will all gather near. <br />Despite all their stress and the cold, wintry weather, <br />Everyone hopes this will be the best Christmas ever!<br /><br />Angela Wybrow<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-week-before-christmas/
