I see a burning inferno <br />Just beneath the surface of the world <br />It’s clouded, reeling with their screams <br />O madness, it seems so real <br />Can you hear their crying <br />Can you feel them dying <br />Choking for a chance <br />While the leaders shake their hands <br /> <br />And the bombs that dropped at night <br />As we fight over modern vices <br />They hungered for a sympathy <br />They thirsted with a dignity <br />Teaching us our choices <br />So why do we have this government <br />Who uttered words they never meant <br />Who shook the hands that scratched their backs <br /> <br />What’s wrong with this place <br />Do we even know <br />Can we ever get it like it was before <br />I can see it in their eyes <br />The fear and demise <br />Standing in silence <br />Too afraid to even cry <br />Is it any wonder that it has all fallen asunder<br /><br />Pensive Phoenix<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-world-asunder/
