So many patients, I but one
all the jobs But need be done
I pussy foot around their rooms
silent crypts and catacombs
not to wake, another to feed
place a pillow under a reed
Who's life shall I help to fight?
And Who'll bid adieu tonight!
Someone waits for me to come
yet there's life in the electro hum
God's will shall've had HIS way
when angels knock to take away
cry I because; can't save em all.
Some be gone before the fall.
A baby breathes, sends a wail
Outside spread smiles and hails.
Mother greets with a baby kiss
And I exult in the glow an bliss.
Tears i wipe away with hands,
a son they got to till their lands.
I hold em tight an ease the pain.
Silently whisper; its not in vain.
I prop them up when they faint.
Look at me like a visiting saint.
Will i be able to save him tonight?
or hold his hand to salve his fright?
Tall, the corridors, I walk in pride.
Know that the lord is by my side.
I am the nurse, when duty calls.
slake the pain! Ill go through walls.

(Islamabad)
(May 12,2009)

saadat tahir

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/angels-with-no-wings-nurses-day-dedication/
