This knot of love you sing
Hum the words if they will…
will them back they will return
from whence they first came to you
remember? The heart of the lips
the quote of the dimple beside
the pear of the smile of the stem
of the nose and the droop of the seed
of the chin the flash of the quit
of the blink of each eye
remember? The neck of the child
the sleeve of the spine the warmth
of the aorta’s line from the spine
to the mind as the voice of the phone
said Hi! Remember? The thin as a pen
fingers that held The time of the timing
of each step on the walk
remember? The hang to the lift
of the breast and the un-hardening
of the heart to the hardening of the
nipple at suggestions concessions
and the untying of knots on requests.
(the poem was not even trying)
Remember? The sway
of the hips to the balk of the heal
to the swing together of the toe
to the balance of each side
of the scale to the soul.

Lee B.
