How much of our love do we waste
In anticipation of just a taste
But the taste leaves us wanting more
The minute our hearts leave the door

How deeply we feel the hunger
Felt once when we were younger
Before childs hearts were broken
By lies of love that were carelessly spoken

If only we could forget the heartache and the pain
of love faded, misplaced, or affection felt in vain
And follow the winds of love like a weather vane
that point so sunshine instead of rain

I'm told that if you release a sparrow
and it flies high like an arrow
That it's path will lead to love
Guided by spirits from above

I cast my love into the sky
Once more to see it it can fly
and a wind carried it far away
My dreams like a kite, come what may

JAMES T.
