My broken soul <br />Proof of the torture my body bore. <br />My blood runs cold <br />A weight was put on my soul. <br />Destroying my home <br />And everything I call my own <br /> <br />My life reduced to a product line. <br />The Nazis have a power none can deny. <br />Screaming at me. tearing through me, <br />They are slowly killing me. <br />Rejoicing in my dire pain, <br />They unite against me, a common enemy. <br />Suffocating me, changing me <br />Can't cry out, can't walk out. <br /> <br />Concentration camps a bitter battle. <br />Every breath a stuggle, <br />The process of breathing is getting harder and harder. <br />Death a bittersweet release <br />Starvation a terminating disease. <br />What happened to my God? <br />He promised never to leave... <br /> <br />Forsaken <br />Why beg when all that's left is a fading memory? <br />No one here, no one witnessing my tears. <br />Forgotten dreams, forgotten hopes <br />Lost inside this empty soul, <br />Watching my family slowly go. <br />Forsaken in this infinite Hell <br />Nothing left but a tormented shell. <br /> <br />What did I do wrong? <br />Why was I thrown inside this cursed place? <br />Bitter thoughts became my every breath, <br />Waiting for the sweet release of death. <br />My heart bled a song of nothing left, <br />This thread of hope will soon end. <br />'The holocaust has just begun, but the fight in not yet done.' <br /> <br />My so-called God murdered by tainted hands <br />Hanging on the gallows <br />Had these contradictions echoing in my heart always sound so hallow? <br />Not the God I made him to be <br />This knowledge releases its poison within me. <br />Hardening my heart, replacing my thoughts. <br /> <br />Losing faith in the God I worshipped <br />Erasing the lies, forgetting the false illusions planted deep inside <br />Cynics speaking lies <br />Empty lies devoured by empty minds. <br />Death has turned into a seen threat <br />Turning light into darkness in a single breath. <br />Can't erase what's in my heart, <br />Can't erase the roots of doubt that's tearing my life apart.<br /><br />Ashley Mejia<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/roots-of-helplessness-holocaust/
