Hello? <br />Are you there? <br />This place is dark and cold, <br />and i'm getting really scared. <br />Hello? <br />Is anybody there? <br />A voice is calling out to me, <br />it's calling a double dare. <br />I stumble apon an object, <br />and it skitters across the ground. <br />I picked up the little mistery, <br />and you'll never guess what i had found. <br />I found a knife so cold and sharp, <br />on the handle was its label. <br />The label read escape, <br />and now escape i was able. <br />The voice called out to me again, <br />that same tempting dare. <br />It was daring me to cut my skin, <br />to raise my wrist and keep it there. <br />I take the dare and take the escape, <br />letting more light in with each cut i make, <br />lighting up this ugly place. <br />With each cut i can see the blood better, <br />everything around me is getting redder and redder. <br />My wrist stings and the blade is cold, <br />but it's just something i can't control. <br />Blood and release is lighting up this world, <br />i can see a mirror and i can see a girl. <br />Her wrist is stained red and her eyes are wet, <br />but the relief on her face is better yet. <br />Her vision is blurring and her head feels light, <br />she can't cut anymore or she'll lose her sight. <br />She falls to her knees and the relief is fading, <br />the light's disappearing and the mirror's breaking. <br />Back to the dark and back to the gloom, <br />it's all in her head as she sits in her room. <br />Now that it's over she doesn't know what to do, <br />she'll just do it again tomorrow after school. <br />She's looking in her bedroom mirror, <br />as her worst enemy looks straight back at her.<br /><br />Hailey Agnew<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-voice-in-my-head/
