In the fire that lies before me,
I see my flaming emotion and hate
Burning inside of it. Now does this
Mean that I no longer have hate, or
That I no longer have emotion?
This I know not.

In this burning acid green flare I see
A face. I look upon that face as it glares
Back. The face is… somewhat familiar but
I know not who it is.

But on this face I see a burning determination
And unspeakable love yet unimaginable pain.
The face has the burning pride of someone who
Has accomplished the impossible yet the gross
Fear of someone who it terrified of what has
Yet to come.

The impossibly bright light emanating from
That figure hovering there in the flame is
Blinding, but the face looks knowingly at
Me with its penetrating eye’s and smiles.
And that is when I know all is not lost
And there is much left to do.

Clayton J.
