Samantha chapman - White Roses

If I sent you white roses would you know what I meant,
There long slender stems and beautiful scent,
I see the purity of each unblemished petal,
I’m aware of the thorns sharper than metal,
There centers of gold full of sweet tasting nectar,
To draw in the bee drones over many a hectare.

You let me sip your luscious pure gold,
Yet your heart remained empty and cold,
I’ve fondled your petals yielding and warm,
We made love full of passion till the on coming dawn,
I fell for your exotic intoxicating scent,
You told me we could never be meant,
I cradled your stem thorns ripping into life,
Your sensuous eyes concealed the oncoming strife,

Leaves ones green now brittle and brown,
As my laughter is replaced with a frown,
How quickly the petals shrivel and die,
Just as I see my truth in your eye,
Your scent still reeling inside my head,
I go alone now quietly to bed,
But the thorns they remain,
Our friendship never to be the same?

Samantha chapman

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/white-roses-9/
