There was every reason for Despair, <br />A languishing state of consuming pain. <br />Like a parched land dried and gasping for air, <br />Cracked in spirit, so rejected by rain. <br /> <br />Such was the torment of soul day and night, <br />Such was the mire of a hopeless cage <br />That imprisoned me daily and made me lose sight <br />That there was a rainbow behind my human rage. <br /> <br />Wounds bled hidden in the depths of my soul, <br />Darkness was pitch black and I could not see- <br />There was Someone Who loved and wanted me whole <br />Like the last breath of a dying man I cried, 'Set me free!
