These are events which secretly occurred, <br />With a girl, whose voice; remains unheard, <br />A desperate wave consumes her heart, <br />Wounding her, eroding her, tearing her apart, <br />The acid-like hope and the fire of passion to succeed, <br />Inside her, it would burn and constantly bleed. <br /> <br />As she would battle within, a fearless fight, <br />She began to doubt that she was ever right, <br />Ever right, ever true and ever real, <br />To hear and to speak, to think and to feel, <br />To her it seemed pointless, to have so much, <br />When, she couldn’t do with it, anything as such. <br /> <br />She would doubt and question, ‘why, oh why? ’ <br />‘Why have the knowledge, but no permission to try? ’ <br />To attempt to bring her skills to life, <br />Through study; in itself a struggle and strife, <br />‘Why have the courage, talent and ability, <br />When I am clothed and enveloped in disability? ’ <br /> <br />Disability of the body, I tell you; no way, <br />Disability, in having no voice and no say, <br />She would reflect and laugh and sometimes smile, <br />At her shortcomings being there all the while, <br />She would ponder and cry at the cause, <br />Of her endless defects, and numerous flaws. <br /> <br />Until the point, where she could bear it no more, <br />The invisible script of hopes, she simply tore, <br />And in this way, she never again wanted to be tried, <br />Yes; you got it, she gave in, grew old and died, <br />Sorrow ate her up, to the very centre, the inner core, <br />Where the will to succeed, lived no more. <br /> <br />Oh hearer of this call, to whom no sound is audible <br />Know that each being is indeed credible, <br />And that her body remains with you, alive today, <br />Yet her heart lives not, nor breathes the same way, <br />So these are events that secretly occurred <br />Within a girl, who will always be unknown; unheard.<br /><br />Rukhsar Ahmed<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/unheard-2/
