I was shopping the other day, <br />And heard a child cry. <br />It reached into my heart <br />And and dug in, <br />I had to see what was wrong. <br />And I searched until he was found, <br />A boy of three or four. <br />Sitting in the stroller, <br />Crying and looking at the floor. <br />His parents were there, he was okay, <br />But it hurt me just the same. <br />He reminded me of my grandson, <br />And ripped at my heart again. <br />He was such a sweet little boy, <br />Not throwing a fit or two. <br />Just simply crying, <br />but I did not know what to do. <br />I could not leave him there to cry, <br />But nothing could I do. <br />I went on my way, with a huge lump in my throat, <br />And immediately heard another child in distress, <br />Though not really, it was I that was really upset. <br />For some reason I started to panic, <br />My heart rate went through the roof. <br />My eyes were tearing, my hands started to shake <br />And I thought I was going to faint. <br />I finally got it together, I missed my boy, my Jake <br />I went shopping for my grandson, <br />promptly bought out the store.<br /><br />Kimberly Lindsey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/missing-jake/
