I am embarrassed beyond all mention, <br />A slave for your attention, <br />How can I be so pathetic? <br />For a heart so prosthetic. <br /> <br />I am ashamed at what I’ve become, <br />So lost, so dumb, <br />Following, swallowing your light, <br />Without thought, without sight. <br /> <br />I am hating myself to death, <br />Why should I waste another breath? <br />Stepping backwards all this time, <br />Without a soul, without a mind. <br /> <br />I am scared and I am lost, <br />Why must it come at such a cost? <br />To take the pain and give it a square, <br />And try to lie and say I care. <br /> <br />I am guilty I am wrong, <br />Why must it take so long? <br />For me to rise to the occasion, <br />And put a balance to this equation. <br /> <br />I am determined to disappear, <br />To know the truth will never reach her ear, <br />Nor will it be displayed before her eyes, <br />Damn my lies, I cannot face her cries. <br /> <br />I am destined to eventually pay, <br />And that is the reason I stay, <br />For through all life’s lessons and all of life's tenants, <br />I must face the pain as my penance. <br /> <br />I am a creature undeserving of life, <br />A product of preoccupation and strife, <br />But I deserve this translucent coffin I am making, <br />To lie and watch the hearts I am breaking. <br /> <br />I am aware of the hate that will come, <br />Of the hearts that will we one day be comfortably numb, <br />Never to love again because of what I have done, <br />Taking two different sirens and telling them both they were the one.<br /><br />Twisted Moon<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-truth-about-me-4/
