C.W. James - Days Consumed by the Nights Shadow

2014-06-16 4 Dailymotion

Turn out the lights,
Blow out the sun,
For seeing causes my body much pain.
Send the choir from the trees,
Silence all joy and fun,
It's enough to drive me from the valley of the sane.

Half dressed I sigh,
No words can I speak,
A throat too dry, a mind too blank.
No movement can come,
From a body so weak,
To escape from the bottle in which I sank.

Alone I lie,
A familiar sight,
A familiar feeling, a familiar falling.
Since she spread her wings,
and on one's own took flight,
On a journey I'm forever stalling.

For self pitty and loathing
Is the path I chose,
Shadows and reflections catch my wasted breath.
But deep within my breast
A heart still glows,
Enough at present to keep my door from death.

Six seasons have gone,
And still I lay,
In the comfort of my living tomb.
Promising like yester eve,
Morrows the day,
She will return and life will resume.

C.W.
