I was waiting on the platform, <br /> <br />waiting for a westbound train. <br /> <br />I was thinking about you <br /> <br />but I didn’t know your name. <br /> <br />I had seen you at the wedding- <br /> <br />You were playing bass guitar. <br /> <br />I didn’t at the time yet know <br /> <br />How wonderful you are. <br /> <br />Amazingly the train was late, <br /> <br />delayed because of rain. <br /> <br />You came with that umbrella. <br /> <br />I forgot about my plane. <br /> <br />I somehow found my courage <br /> <br />to finally ask your name. <br /> <br />In time we would share sorrow <br /> <br />But first we’d share romance. <br /> <br />I’ve no regrets that we two loved- <br /> <br />just grateful for the chance. <br /> <br />Someday I’ll tell our children <br /> <br />How we met there in the rain <br /> <br />How a shared umbrella <br /> <br />brought us close <br /> <br />While waiting for a train.<br /><br />John F.
