I sit and look out to this beautiful country, known as America, only to be disappointed at the lack of respect that humans have for the human race. <br /> <br />I hear gunshots being fired off into frail bodies of innocent citizens begging to live another day, another hour, another second. <br /> <br />I see missing children being reported on television sets all over the country leaving families in confusion, devastation, and frustration. <br /> <br />I see families of victims protesting for the madness to end so that America’s people won’t be afraid to live their lives again. <br /> <br />I mark the degradation of the American moral code by showcasing the senseless crimes attempted to be covered up by pretty words and catchy headlines; I see it all. <br /> <br />I see the workings of manipulative, untrustworthy citizens. <br /> <br />I see the suspected murderers, rapists, and abusers. <br /> <br />I observe the hard work of medical professionals; the honorary paramedics, nurses, and surgeons trying to save the lives of those worthy of living. <br /> <br />I observe the ignorance of witnesses who know more then they’re telling and immaturely fear being labeled as a tattle-tale, snitch, or traitor. <br /> <br />All of these changes America has endured within the past thirty-something years aren’t necessarily the best changes but <br /> <br />Seeing, hearing, and observing I continue to remain silent.<br /><br />Jasmine Gandy<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/silenced-i-sit-and-look-out/
