‘Goodbye ’, she said
I wanted to ask her to wait,
the night had just started,
and some untold words were scattered everywhere.

The dreadful silence……
and it carried onto its way…..
Some plans I had,
and some truths needed to be said

The dim room-light…….
The half-filled bottle of wine,
those lonely-getting-lonelier moments,
I was already seeing them in pieces...

Out of my mind, I ran
and so did the time…
as she was about to leave,
‘Couldn’t you stay? ’ I asked

just that moment, I was tryin’ to hold
wasn’t too late, I suppose
her beautiful eyes,
and I couldn’t get enough of those

It’s not true, I didn’t try
but my best wasn’t good enough to hold the time
I tried and cried and lied,
“When again? ”, I asked…..
nothing she said, but just left
with the prettiest of smile, I shall never forget!

Roshan Upreti

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/awaiting-12/
