A storm has crashed through my heart <br />That blows away all the good feelings <br />In my soul <br />It's long gone but it's left it's mark <br />Now all I can hear is the echoes of my mistakes <br />Taunting me, mocking me with cruel laughter <br /> <br />I'm always engulfed in swirling darkness <br />Can't find the light <br />I wanna make all of this change <br />I wanna put an end to it tonight <br />But nothing can save me <br /> <br />Cuz it's too late <br />I've been pushed into the deep abyss <br />Nobody tried to pull me out of it <br />Cuz they don't even know I'm in there <br />Now it's too late <br /> <br />No one has offered a helping hand <br />Or made an attempt to help mend <br />The broken spirit that resides in my body <br />Cuz no one sees through the joyless smile <br />Nobody sees the pain in my eyes <br />I wish more than anything I could just stop the lies <br /> <br />I wanna tell them how I feel <br />Tell them about the pain that is oh so real <br />But something is blocking my efforts <br />Something won't let me say a word <br />Forcing me to pretend I'm happy with life <br />Like iron bars restricting my every move <br />Keep on forcing me back in to the darkness <br /> <br />I'm alive but I'm not living <br />Instead I'm swimming in a lake of misery <br />Drowning in the all-consuming pain inside of me <br />Nobody can help me <br />Nobody can save me <br />I scream myself hoarse, pleading for help <br />But I cannot make a peep <br /> <br />Cuz these prison bars, they hold me back <br />These prison bars are me<br /><br />Tiffany Rose Moczydlowski<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/these-prison-bars-2/
