I am like a tree <br />Standing sturdy and strong <br />No matter how hard the wind blows <br />I can't be knocked down <br /> <br />Eventhough I don't bow <br />Under major pressure <br />The smallest things, like an ax <br />Completely throw off my measure <br /> <br />Little by little <br />It gets to me <br />Until it's so much <br />That I can't break free <br /> <br />I try so hard <br />To stay away from the ax <br />But it sneaks up on me <br />Then suddenly attacks <br /> <br />This is a statement <br />Known by all <br />The higher you stand <br />The harder you fall <br /> <br />So be like a feather <br />And not like a tree <br />So you don't come crashing <br />From little things <br /> <br />This is a fact <br />That everyone knows <br />Instead of falling <br />Feathers go with the flow <br /> <br />Yes they get taken <br />With harsh weather <br />But you can't take an ax <br />To a feather <br /> <br />See it's better to let the big things <br />Get to you <br />Than to let the little things <br />Completely ruin you <br /> <br />So be like a feather <br />And not like a tree <br />So you don't come crashing <br />From little things <br /> <br />2008<br /><br />Kimberly Wares<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-am-a-tree-4/
