Memory Lane
By: Taylor Donnelly

hush my uncontented heart
let us go back to the start
pull the paper from the walls
wander down these disillusioned halls
if i didn't feel the pain
i would go insane
perhaps i have already

my back arches
my heads spinning
if i break now they'll all be grinning
did i know them like they were life
they say i must be mother and wife
but what of the things i want
I'm pulled so taunt
ragged at the edges
as the bills teeter on the ledges

if i didn't know better
i would go get her
the girl you once knew
but the bits of memories are too few
i lost her among the good intentions
once held together by the tensions
of what long awaited you
what else could i do
we were so young its true

hush my uncontented heart
we are just at the start

Taylor P.
