Are monsters real mommy, are they under my bed, <br />Maybe in my closet, not just in my head? <br /> <br />Monsters are real, some live just down the street, <br />They exist everywhere in the world. <br />They're always around in the cold and the heat, <br />They don't discriminate between boys and girls. <br /> <br />One monster a long time ago killed six million jews, <br />With no qualms. <br />They hide behind behind jesters and fools, <br />They get to you with their multiple charms. <br /> <br />Monsters today are not known as Frankenstein, <br />Or the creature from the black lagoon. <br />And they don't come from the id in your mind, <br />Or stalk by the light of the full moon. <br /> <br />There was Che Guevara and Uzama you knew, <br />Castro and Lenin just to name a few. <br /> <br />Monsters are real, they're not under your bed. <br />And they don't stay in the closet, <br />Though you'll wish they had.<br /><br />Juan Olivarez<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/are-monsters-real-mommy/
