They put up a tent, by the railroad tracks, <br />They hung lectric lights all around, <br />They said they was bringing Jesus back, <br />As they pounded stakes into the ground. <br /> <br />They filled up the tent with folding seats, <br />They put up a podium and a mike. <br />Preacher spoke of sin, and miraculous feats, <br />Saying no to the Devil, and all of the like. <br /> <br />Then a band started playing, not well but loud, <br />And they all started dancing, jumping up and down. <br />Screaming and shouting, a real rowdy crowd, <br />Then they would pass out, right there on the ground. <br /> <br />Women were the ones that passed out the most, <br />The men stood around, looking up through their legs, <br />They looked more like the Devil, than The Holy Ghost, <br />Then Pepe and me got our rotten eggs. <br /> <br />Pepe beaned the preacher, right in the face, <br />And he started gagging all over the band. <br />Other well placed missiles emptied the place, <br />The stink permeated all around the band stand. <br /> <br />Pepe and I ran to the grove, <br />Watching the happenings from the dark. <br />Our hearts were filled with Godly love, <br />As we egged the preachers Cadillac in the park. <br /> <br />6/2/10 29 palms ca.<br /><br />Juan Olivarez<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/revival-8/
