I watch your eyes, they refer to times left behind, <br />And these floors they fall away from us, <br />You close your hand around mine, <br />Because there is no space for this anymore, <br /> <br />Falling through my fingertips, I feel this feeling, <br />The air around us stops beating, <br />My heart breathes in and out, <br />Our heads fall softly into each other’s palms. <br /> <br />Pins and needles, my muscles they ache, <br />I turn away from the atmosphere, <br />As it draws ever closer toward my bones, <br />I can do anything but reach for you, <br />Because this is not the time, nor the place for this. <br /> <br />Your arms stretch out to me, <br />And all I want is to lean toward you, <br />But I pull away because we shouldn’t be here, <br />As these are from the times left behind, <br />When we dared to dream of a “happily ever after”.<br /><br />Jess Silva<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/times-left-behind/
