A candle sits and flickers on the old table. <br />Light and shadows dance about… <br />Untamed, <br />the hues come and go, <br />upon the backdropp of darkness. <br />You sit there across from the dancing light… <br /> <br />Bright, your eyes reflect the flames in and out. <br />Soft the light, <br />it outlines and softens your beautiful face… <br />It’s so much like your life… <br />Such a delicate balance, <br />dictated by the motion of the wind. <br />It sways you to and fro, with nowhere to go. <br /> <br />It’s a destiny, <br />I don’t think you’ll ever understand. <br />You could have set the world on fire…. <br />You didn’t see it coming, <br />you just went on by yourself. <br />So cold is it outside… <br />You could warm it all, <br />you just can’t see the full picture. <br /> <br />I was hoping you could see and not be afraid. <br />So much I see in you... <br />Why do you try to push me away? <br />What more can I do, <br />to let you see who you really are? <br />I risk it all for you. <br />I couldn’t tell you the why…. <br /> <br />It’s just there and I don’t know why, <br />I am guided in such an unforeseeable way. <br />Just be careful, <br />I am not as strong as you think… <br /> <br />I feel like old chafes of wheat fighting the wind. <br />Being pushed and pulled back and forth… <br />It’s all manipulated by you… <br />You got to realize my roots are not all that strong. <br /> <br />Over time the weaker they become… <br />Standing in this barren field, <br />filled with my spilt blood… <br />created by you, <br />the price to pay, <br />for just loving and caring for you… <br />I fear I won’t be able to hold and just topple over after all. <br />I won’t be able to take the hurt much longer… <br />It just a matter of time, I start to realize…<br /><br />Kevin Carney<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/to-and-fro-2/
