The glass is half empty, <br />Yet, there is still something there. <br />Discouragement, pushing us towards greatness. <br />Iron sharpens iron, by friction, not apathy. <br />The greater the odds, the greater the payoff. <br />Miracles are believed in, before they are seen. <br />My biggest defeats, <br />Were my greatest victories. <br />What I was, became the contrast to who I wanted to be. <br />If I didn't experience my worst, <br />How would I know my best? <br />We all experience growing pains, inch by inch. <br />Sometimes the growth is a spurt. <br />We reach new heights, as we allow ourselves to grow. <br />The temporary locks us in time, <br />I grow anxious as time stands still. <br />I want to move forward, <br />But I must remain still. <br />Calm and tranquil. <br />In the peace of knowing, <br />The seed is planted, <br />Deep in the mud. <br />It takes time to root, <br />And then it sprouts, <br />Then the flower blooms. <br />Now the world will see it's beauty.<br /><br />Ryan Lee Morris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/growing-pains-15/
