Jen Sheridan - Regrets

A chance to give, the chance to take, your surmised or defined even, by the choices you ultimately make,
Some say this way, yet others say that, a complex confusion created, without empathy and no room for mistake,

Who should my resolve cater to? A friend, my family, a neighbour, my lover or perhaps even you,
Independent decisions based upon fact with some consideration, is that really such a bad thing to do?

Am I so wrong for choosing the path that hurts least and prevents the possibility of future regret?
No choice is infallible, one choice you may have with consequences applied, pray this you never forget.

Say what they will, advise as the might, who are they to comment on current circumstances, their awareness limited by their narrowed minds,
Ignorance is one thing but opinionated ignorance is quite another, look long and hard there are so many of these unfortunate kinds,

Abundant as their advice may seem to be, rarely is good advice offered, honestly without a hidden agenda and certainly never ever for free,
Careful choices now, for yours will be the signature upon this decision forever, as the facts lie before you so simple and plain to see,

Believe in your choices, judgement is inevitable and strangely enough, completely free, be honest to thyself.
Will they defend you to an unforgiving: conscience, your God, a loved one or even save you from yourself,

Listen carefully to all that is said; choose wisely for all responsibility lies with you at day’s end,
Remember that you and only you, are your own closest, honest, trustworthy and reliable friend.

Life’s greatest challenge is to find and attain compromise without sacrificing what you believe.
The past cannot be altered but the choices you make today will define who you are to become in the future,
The choice is yours and yours alone

J.
