beyond unstained wooden pallings <br />which pass as boundary dividings <br />between this my mother's property fence <br />and fence of a yellow house neighbours <br />grows broad leaf flax beyond wind blown ferns <br /> <br />flax stems pierce pale blue skies <br />a tui in flight alights upon black flax stems <br />drinks welcome nectar of tubular flax pod flowers <br />green flax blade leaves to gravity bends <br />light gleams upon bent over flax leaves <br /> <br />light reflects <br />from wind whispered flax leaves <br />in still breeze <br />of summer afternoon silences <br />a poet ponders <br /> <br />what passes <br />as wisdom reeds in lands <br />erecting materialism's sand castles <br />flax stems black embrace <br />beauty freedom breezes <br /> <br />capitalistic cities <br />city bound build ill fated sand castles <br />without knowing greed's <br />ill wind stings in future days <br />hoarders of stinging grey sand grains <br /> <br /> <br />Copyright © Terence George Craddock<br /><br />Terence G.
