I was looking <br />at your picture <br />today <br />just like I always do <br />before I fall asleep <br />and then couldn't <br />withhold <br />the temptation <br />to kiss you. <br />And, as I bent down <br />overwhelmed- <br />perhaps by the joy <br />of finding <br />you at last <br />or perhaps by <br />the grief <br />of being still apart, <br />This, I may never know <br />but quite in oblivion <br />twin teardrops- <br />fell out of my eyes <br />on to your face <br />and played tricks <br />on my blurry vision. <br />And, as I watched <br />fascinated, <br />they landed on your eyes <br />making them rejuvenate <br />your naughty gleam <br />and when they sparkled- <br />I gazed on <br />quite captivated. <br />Then they moved right down <br />to appear <br />as a miniature glacier <br />forming a shallow pool <br />over your lips <br />as if urging you <br />to quench your thirst, <br />as a favour. <br />And, as I blinked <br />to clear my wet lashes <br />for a better look- <br />It had vanished <br />taking all evidence with it. <br />And yet, I thought <br />I saw your lips move- <br />Was it a hallucination on my part <br />or did you, by any chance, <br />taste my tears?<br /><br />Aminath Neena<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/taste-my-tears/
