How can he tell her he loves her, and then walk away? <br />Coming back to her with apologies the very next day <br />His sweet words and promises once made everything okay <br />But this time, his games, she refuses to play <br /> <br />How can he tell her he misses her, and that his feelings are true? <br />As he constantly lies like she hasn’t a clue <br />Feelings of loneliness and despair are starting to brew <br />As she ponders the idea of finding somebody new <br /> <br />How dare he kiss her, with lips made for lies? <br />As the pain deep within, finally pours from her eyes <br />His kisses that once filled her stomach with butterflies <br />Now leave her alone, shattered and hollow inside <br /> <br />How can he put his arms around her, holding on so tight? <br />Painting a picture of their future that shines so bright <br />But when they have minor issues, he immediately takes flight <br />While she’s down on her knees, begging him to stay and make things right <br /> <br />But it’s now she asks herself, how she’s held on so long <br />To a man that’s consistently done her nothing but wrong <br />For their love, she had always tried to stay strong <br />But it’s becoming clearer now, that to her, his heart doesn’t belong <br /> <br />She had given him everything, and now it’s her turn to walk away <br />But the difference is, she won’t be returning the next day <br />And now alone he stands, his once vibrant world turned grey <br />For his carelessness and selfish acts, this is the price he must pay <br /> <br />For the love she had given him, was the truest he had known <br />But reciprocation of that love, to her, was never shown <br />His world is empty now, his heart as cold as stone <br />She let go and moved on, but he will remain forever alone<br /><br />Emily Gasperak<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/lips-made-for-lies/
