I've been in this living room <br />for years and years <br />witnessed many happy times <br />and lots and lots of tears. <br />Had Children jumping on me <br />and pets shedding their Hair <br />money been lost down my back <br />when only I knew it was there. <br />After the kids had gone to bed <br />that's when 'romance' took place <br />and if I had human features <br />bright Red would be my Face. <br />Had the family watching the Telly <br />sitting on me night after night <br />but I've always enjoyed the sport <br />but Horror films give me a fright. <br />I'm getting on a bit now though <br />and I may end up on one of those Skips <br />as they said my springs had gone <br />and my sides were full of rips. <br />I was right as my days are up <br />still even Settees have to die <br />but I've had a decent life <br />now I'm off to the great Sofa in the Sky!<br /><br />Kevin Halls<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-old-settee/
