It started over coffee <br />This thing with you and me <br />Well coffee and tea in the afternoon <br />Ended with a passionate exchanged under the moon <br /> <br />Now the kiss wasn't that of fairy tales <br />But my god the memory never pales <br />From your light hearted jokes <br />To the disapproving looks from the old folks <br /> <br />You left me on my doorstep safely home yet alone <br />But my heart stopped when I heard your tone on my phone <br />Not even three steps into my house and still with you <br />And that night I fell to sleep feeling alive and new <br /> <br />The next day I woke up to your voice and cried <br />There you stood outside my window, I've never felt so tongue tied <br />You laughed as I called you a fool, said ‘only for you' <br />And I began to think this was all too good to be true <br /> <br />The feeling never let up and I worry to this day <br />That I'll wake up to find I was just a good lay <br />But every time you see my fear you pull me near <br />And kiss away my fear until my worries clear <br /> <br />So all I have to say is this, thank you <br />For staying here and showing me a love so true <br />That it makes the world that so much brighter <br />And makes my heart and soul that much lighter<br /><br />Rebecca Pepper<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-effects-of-coffee/
