Are these tears of joy, sadness or pain; does the emotion within create nationwide rain?
Snowflakes in the winter, ice from the cold; day in and day out my young tears grow old.
Reaching and reaching yet nothing to reach; are these tears what created the quiet clear beach?
The puddles in the ground, the rivers that flow; are they created from tears, I just do not know.
Gathering moments remembering the past; emotions as powerful as a nuclear blast
Shadows of light surrounding ones soul; struggling for breath, as buried within a hole.
Tears, water, oceans, the sea; created by sadness inside of me.
Where is the light, the sun to dry the rain; are my tears from joy, sadness or pain?
Caught in a web unable to go; why can’t I move like the streams that do flow.
Gasping for air, tears consuming my lung fading songs from birds previously sung.
They say justice is within everyone’s hand; yet the tears are so strong their whisping away the sand.
As I try to build to make things brand new; realizing my tears were created by you.
Pretending to love me, the hurt will never end; promises you made, “I’ll always be a friend”.
Days pass, nights come, nothing from you; feelings of emptiness what shall I do?
Are these tears of joy, sadness, or pain; is losing you the true reason from the rain?
How does one know why the waters secede, a trail of tears, where will they lead?
Darkness, cold, light, warm, and love; praying for the sun from the heavens above.
Floods before me, my eyes growing weak; the true friend you promised, is all that I seek.
The tears continue to pour down my face; wishing for love, happiness, and grace.
Are these tears of joy, sadness or pain; accepting life will forever bring rain.

Taunya Benns

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/tears-352/
