It's all the tiny stabbing pokes, <br />I never seem to feel, <br />that in the end, come creeping back <br />refusing still to heal. <br />Through all the years the tiny pains, <br />were those that hurt the most. <br />They haunt me like some parasite, <br />my mind is but a host. <br />Selective memory is my friend, <br />I need him to survive. <br />Without his help the 'partnership' <br />would not come out alive. <br />My thoughts resemble solar flares, <br />erupting then, a soothing calm. <br />And in disguise through tired eyes, <br />forget and store them in a psalm. <br />Of all life's pains the tiny ones, <br />we all dismiss and then forget, <br />come back and haunt us in the end, <br />and fill our lives with much regret<br /><br />Biff McGuire<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/life-s-little-pains/
