As I have ascended with the winds of autumn in spirit
And played her water children upon strings,
Like puppets gone mad.

And awakened to the voices of her winged off-spring
In the dead of night,
As they flew across the moon,
And I alone knew the meaning of their songs.

And have held my breath while her dancers
Cast their scarves in graceful performance,
While many others
Saw only leaves in the street.

And have laid back upon a bed of harvest gold
To gaze up at the changing face of God,
Sailing through the window of blue, blue sky...

Then I am some authority on this season
And I can tell you-
The complexity of her fabric is woven so fine,
That here I only pluck at threads.

JDC LeDrew

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-have-ascended-with-the-winds-of-autumn/
