Tonight the sea is calm, <br />But the timbers of my boat still creak. <br />The sails fly flat as the wind has left me, <br />And the moon is held hostage by the clouds. <br /> <br />Time signals an eternity, <br />The darkness of night calls the demons. <br />I can hear them coming, <br />And I just sit and wait. <br /> <br />I wait for the sun, <br />To feel its freshness upon my skin. <br />The glory of light to cast the demons back to the depths, <br />Let the winds cast me ashore. <br /> <br />On the land I will walk. <br />On the land I will find my home. <br />On the land I will live my dreams and sing. <br />On the land I will love and die happy. <br /> <br />Until that day I wait in the darkness, <br />With the demons now calling my name. <br />The boat still creaks as the sea sits restless beneath me, <br />And the wind that will send me ashore has not returned.<br /><br />Elton Dean<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/awaiting-the-sun/
