I've got to be in a wrong state of mind, <br />If I find the act of self aggrandizement... <br />A sign the reflects one's self centeredness. <br />And by design others give attention to this. <br />Perhaps I should re-revaluate, <br />The purpose of life! <br />And why we all exist to bridge gaps. <br /> <br />I've got to be in a wrong state of mind. <br />Not to attempt to define such obsession, <br />As a professed ego expressed. <br />Or am I so behind the times, <br />That believing what one does... <br />Has nothing to do with deed! <br />But the prospects of being honored, <br />For whatever one believes is achieved... <br />Can lift an ego to great heights.<br /><br />Lawrence S.
